Tell me about your character.

Guh.  That's a dangerous thing to ask.  There's always someone out there who's chomping at the goddamn bit to tell someone, ANYONE about the awesome level 20 cross-class dark elven avenger that they've been playing for the last ten years (I'm looking at you, Vin Diesel, you goddamn nerd!).

This time, though.  This time I do genuinely want to hear about your characters.  Every Puppeteer's favorite NPCs.  Every player's favorite character.  Background, character sheet, moments that were awesome for you in the games.  I want to know.

MY players too.  Don't gimme the obvious answers here, though.  If anything, I'm looking for things that maybe everybody else has forgotten about, but you, you damn creepy person you, still remember and hold onto, even to this day.

So.  Let's see em.  Bonus points to the person who provides the most characters overall.

Hmmm...I'll start with....

Jacob Pollard
50ish Ex-Corporate Enforcer

Rapidly climbed the ranks of Shrike to become a squad specialist.  He was assigned to an outpost on the Wall for most of his training.  After being assigned to many special tactics units he was put in charge of clearing the front lines and pushing back the encroaching wastes.  He had 5 squads under him and was chock full of Corporate brainwashing.  With a finely honed brutality that won him a chest full of medals. he swept through beta camps and Outsider clans.

It wasn't until he was on a mission to wipe out a Scavvy encampent that had the misfortune to spring up on a route the Corporation had marked out for major supply line, that he finally saw the death and horror he had be causing.  They were just starting an all out night attack on the group when he realized the group mostly consisted of the women and children of several Scavenger warrens that he had campaigned against.  After a horrible montage with sad music as his men began to bombard the camp with white phosphorus and concussion sticks, he turned.  His men either did not hear or ignored his commands to stop and withdraw, he flew into a rage and wiped out a whole squad of the two that were with him.  The squad leader that was left captured him and shot him in both legs and both arms instead of killing him.  They left him in the midst of the Scavvies.

A small group of survivors found Jacob and instead of killing him, they helped heal his wounds.  After traveling with Scavvies for a few years he finally found a home in small cave nearby one of the more permanent warrens in the Wastes.  He has MUCH respect for Scavvy culture and watches out for them.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to choose one character overall, but I have to say some of my favorite gameplaying occurred between Viktr Io and Eddie back when it was just Dark Slackmaster of the West and commander of the 35th Armchair division and I tossing dice in Queen Anne.  One fun thing was when Eddie, a tesper, used his holo emitters to create a holographic rose to woo a particularly pretty partygoer and Viktr used his hallucination prowess to make the rose real for the girl.  Weirded Eddie out, who couldn't figure out why some chick was twirling, sniffing, and generally enjoying the tactile sensation of a holographic flower.

Oh, and Eddie and Viktr's in-game banter was classic.

Really?  Cause to me the "Oh shit we just turned off the airship we're on and have no idea how to turn it back on how the fuck do we get out of here"s that really made those games for me.

DOC and Serge trying to help those people and having to hunt down all those flightbikes.  And Doc's 50m long trench he dug while crashing.

Good times, good times.

Altright, I got a couple of characters for ya...

my absolute favorite has got to be billy the clause, er..I'm mean billy the kid. He was a great character to play. He started as a wasteland scavvy raised gunslinger named snakebite who I never really played. Then when we started interesting times I made him into billy, who still carried around some wanderer and a scavvy mask throughout his entire carrier. He was lots of fun to play because of his pushy american attitude, his in your face racism, and his inability to go 5 fucking mins without getting into a gun fight. It wasn't that I never tried to play him low-key, but his character was simply larger than life and would come bursting thru no matter how much I tried to contain him. A perfect example of this was when he tried to bluff his was thru a congregation of cultist by pretending to be one of them. This only lasted as long as it took for them to try and involve me in one of thier rituals at which point he shot the leader in the guts and was chased to the top of the bell tower by angry cultist. Had it not been for roxie's wererat he's be dead meat. She managed to drop the bell on them and carried billy from the tower before he was seriously hurt. My favorite moments with this character were dealing hundreds of points of damage to adam without him even flinching, (how the fuck do you kill this thing god damnit?!?) and ending the siolent hill game by pistol whipping the scorceress.

2nd has to be the Bastard himself, Larz. I spent a lot of time thinmking up this guy and even wrote a short story about his orgins. He's fun to play cos he's my monster character. He's big strong, and intimidating. He eats PEOPLE for christ's sake! The only prob I have with this character is trying to kleep him in character without him turning on his teammates. Some fav moments include Hitting the cambot with a gnawed on ripper leg, and from his first adventure when he used one police hover-bot to knock the other one out of the air.

It's a bit of a toss up for my next fav. It's hard to choose between glug and Mugin "Surge" Nakumora. Glug was a blast to play, and the idea of him is hilarious, but he's not too serious a character.more of a comic relieve with his drug addiction and unique speech. Mugin was fun to play cos he's my first plasmologist. My best moments with him were flaming that guy's face into the floor and doing like a million points of damage to him, and the best by far was when he actually acted like a cop for the first tkime and chased down that drug dealer yelling "stop in the name of the law!" and actually placing him under arrest once I caught him.

anyways...those are my favorites, some others could have made the list but these were the ones that really stick out in my mind.

cya all sat.

Here's a character I'm working on

Hile of the Blades
Outsider, ex-Blackhawk

Hile is a runt of an Outsider at only 7'3"  He was tormented by the others growing up. Constantly in trouble with his clan, he eventually left home very young and found his way to Metro.  He fell in with a low gang called, The Blades, in the outer arc of the city. It was with this group that Hile became proficient with the gangs namesake, the blade.   After a "disagreement", the group fell apart and Hile wandered.  In his wanderings he met an Esper named Reese Fallon. Fallon "befriended" Hile but was, in fact, maliciously tearing down Hile's mind and turning him into a psychotic hateful mess.

After killing Fallon and taking to the streets of Metro alone, Hile turned into a serial killer, targeting any that crossed him.  A large bounty on his head guided a team of LEO's into cornering him.  After a fight and a chase on foot, Hile was forced back into the Wastes....

(7'3" from the Blackhawks? So he got picked on for bein' a woman? HAHAHA priceless. Mennic's 7'4" and has the right to call him short!)

Eliza Maria Hernandez's got herself what we call a record.  Born an' raised in the Hollows to a Ceranos gang member and his...er...exotic girl from down south.  The Beta girl grew up biting hands and screaming obscenities at LEOs from a relatively safe distance.  She was arrested at the age of 18 for participating in a Witch Hunt riot, disturbing the peace, not having valid citizenship and/or documentation, assaulting an officer (2 counts, biting), assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon (5 counts, knives), and resisting arrest.

She entered a plea of "Aw, fuck you, Pingita".  Hernandez was given a choice for her sentencing: 20 years incarceration, or deportation to The Industry under a military contract.  She chose the second once the bailiff had gotten her to stop trying to bite anything that got within range, including his restraining arm.

Hernandez passed basic training with the bare minimum requirements for marksmanship, but excelled in stealth operations.  Other soldiers, who had a condescending-yet-familiar view of Beta Humans that only siblings truly understand, referred to her as Big Ears, which later evolved into Biggs.  She served three months in drop squad Noble, until her CO made a poor choice in tactics that left her under rock for 32 hours during an incursion in the Wastelands.

Cleared for release from the medical staff, Hernandez actively sought out her sergeant and brutally assaulted and disfigured the man.  Before he recovered enough to order her punishment, she requested willing transfer to drop squad Echo.

The standard term in the Industrial Military is 8 years; for Echo, it was only 2.  Life expectancy was slightly under 3 months, and the unit was often utilized as punishment detail by officers who took things a bit personal.  48 hours later, Sgt. Bulevuar was denied this small pleasure, when he discovered that Hernandez was no longer enlisted with his unit.

The record for Echo's survival rate was broken by herself, Rodriguez (heavy weaponry/support), and Xander (communications).  Shortly after, they were joined by Joachim (infantry), DC-146 (acting sergeant), Jesus (heavy weaponry), and Whiteside (espionage).  They've been through the Watstes, the GDZ, the Yuke, and even made a tour through the 'Throne.  They've brought down Corporate Enforcers, Auditors, and a handful of Executioners.

Now Xander's gone; they've got 2 months left.  60 days.  1,440 hours.  That's not much time, but still just enough for something to go wrong.  In 22 months Biggs has gotten good at what she does, and I'm not sure I want to know just who or what she's going to take down with her.
